Basic Quilting Supplies:
Rotary cutter with a sharp blade

Small cutting mat
Straight edge ruler approx. 6" x 12" - I really recommend the 8 1/2" x 24 as you will be cutting WOF
Invisigrip
Best Press or light starch

Fabric Requirements:
If you can have your fabric pre-cut before class, you will be able to maximize your sewing time.

In regards to your fabric selection, we suggest that you select two colors for this practice.  Your fabrics should also have a good contrast so that your blocks are effective.  If you want 3 or 4 colors for this practice, adjust your cutting as in blue below and see Cyn's samples

Cut from each color of your fabric:

(4) 8" squares; sub cut once on the diagonal to yield 8 triangles (these are the large background triangles)

(2) 1 3/4" strip WOF this is the same fabric as the squares above so cut to match background triangles

(2) 2 1/4" strip WOF this is your star points

NOTE:  pick fabrics wisely as you want your stars to pop!

one block                                      4 blocks sewn together to make star / this is two 4-block sets
